Lactated Ringer Solution
💧 Lactated Ringer’s Solution – Description
Lactated Ringer’s Solution (LRS) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic intravenous (IV) fluid used for fluid and electrolyte replenishment in patients with dehydration, fluid loss, or during surgical procedures. It contains a balanced concentration of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, and chloride) and lactate, which acts as a buffer to help correct metabolic acidosis.
LRS closely mimics the body’s natural plasma electrolyte composition, making it suitable for a wide range of medical applications in hospitals, emergency rooms, and outpatient care.
✅ Common Uses:
Fluid resuscitation after blood loss or trauma
Treatment of dehydration due to vomiting, diarrhea, or burns
Pre- and post-operative fluid management
Electrolyte balancing in metabolic disorders
Supportive therapy in veterinary medicine (animals)
